Big Tree Country

Perthshire is ‘Big Tree Country’ - with the tallest tree in Britain at The Hermitage near Dunkeld, plus several other giants in Diana’s Grove at Blair Castle. Britain’s tallest hedge and oldest tree are at Meikleour and Fortingall.

Houses on Stilts

Loch Tay was once a centre of Scottish crannog building. These prehistoric round houses were built out from the shore on oak piles driven down into the loch bed. You can visit a reconstructed crannog at Kenmore, Perthshire.
